Smoke Signals

I was hiking with a friend through Bryce Canyon, in an area called, "Victoria's Garden." There was a wonderful collection of rock formations, mostly red in color that greeted us at every turn of the trail. There was even a tunnel drilled in the red rock so we could access an area even deeper down the trail. Being a fanatic about trees and pretty much anything wooden, I began to focus on the number of trees that had died but their bones were left behind, all dried up and bleached out. One dead tree was located up a hill and the clouds centered behind it seemed to form the pattern of smoke signals. I wondered what message the Indians could be sending us? Maybe they were mad because the trail hadn't been named for one of them, after all they were there first.
